| Paraty is a model for the successful preservation of historical
and cultural heritage as well as of beautiful natural habitat.
Though the bay of Paraty is one of the most beautiful locations
along the coast of Brazil, it has not been discovered by mass
tourism. |
 |
| Protected as ”National Cultural Monument”, Paraty
maintains its traditional architecture in the colonial style.
The cobble-stone town center is a traffic-free pedestrian zone,
inviting the visitor to discover numerous churches, colonial-style
houses, shops, ateliers and restaurants offering national as
well as international cuisine. This is also where the popular
traditional festivities take place. |

|
The tropical nature around Paraty invites the wary traveler
to relax. The exceptional and privileged location of this picturesque
sea resort, set between mountains and a protected ocean bay
with numerous small islands, ensures premium conditions for
a variety of activities. The Atlantic rainforest covering the
surrounding mountains hides many treasures of the Brazilian
vegetation and wildlife as well as numerous waterfalls and natural
springs. |
| The calm and clear water of the bay of Paraty
is ideal for boat trips and for water sports such as sailing,
diving etc. |
| The Beach of Jabaquara
The beach of Jabaquara is close to the historical
town center. This is a calm, gently sloped sand beach, which
borders on the river Jabaquara on one side and on a fango swamp
on the other. |
 |
 |
Fascinating for the attentive observer is how the colors of
this amazing environment change over the course of a day. Seagulls,
fishing birds and many other flocks are abundant. Small fisher
boats cast their nets. |
| Famous for its beneficial fango baths, the beach of Jabaquara
also offers a variety of other opportunities for activities as well
as relaxation, such as e.g. strolls on the beach, kayak trips, etc.
Diverse bars offer regional specialties and beverages. |
